Every computer on a network has a unique identifier. Just as you would address a letter to send in the mail, computers use the unique identifier to send data to specific computers on a network.
Most networks today, including all computers on the Internet, use the TCP/IP protocol as the standard for how to communicate on the network.
In the TCP/IP protocol, the unique identifier for a computer is called its IP address.
The IP address is given to your computer by your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to access the Internet. The ISP usually saves it for a few years, together with your cutomer data and your online time.
The IP is your identity on the Internet.
You should be aware of this: when connected to the Internet your location and browsing habits are exposed to the accessed websites, because they know your IP/country/city/street that you are accessing from. If you don't mind, that is fine.
Browsing, buying online, watching online TV channels or reading online newspapers are part of our daily life. What is important to know is that when we connect to the Internet we are exposed, our buying/browsing habits and our confidential data are at risk.
To protect your privacy and have a low profile on the net, you can start with ChrisPC Anonymous Connection which can help you in several distinct ways.
What is WebRTC and how to fix WebRTC IP leak ?
WebRTC is a browser feature that supports browser-to-browser applications such as voice calling, video chat, and P2P file sharing by exposing your real IP address.
If WebRTC is enabled in your browser you will see a WebRTC IP value in the IP address box above.
To navigate anonymously on the internet you need to disable WebRTC feature:
For Firefox browser users:
Enter "about:config" in the address bar and press enter
Press the button "I'll be careful, I promise!"
Type in "media.peerconnection.enabled" in the search bar (there should be only one entry)
Right-click the entry choose "Toggle", the column "Value" should now be "false"
For Internet Explorer browser users:
There is no action required. WebRTC feature is not available in this browser.
For Safari browser users:
There is no action required. WebRTC feature is not available in this browser.
For Chrome browser users:
At the moment there is no option to disable WebRTC. We advice you to use other browser Firefox or Internet Explorer.
There is an extension called ScriptSafe. As long as you don't allow the execution of any Javascript on the website you visit, there is no posibility of a WebRTC IP leak. Keep in mind that this extension breaks many sites if you do not allow javascript on them.
The software will act like a proxy relay using one of the most powerful proxy networks available in the world.
From the interface, you can select the country of the proxy server that will deliver the data packages for you. That means if you are in France and you choose a US proxy server to access a website, then the accessed website/server will see you connecting from a US legitimate IP address.
Anonymous Connection will give you privacy and anonymity protection at TCP level, i.e. transport level which applies to all applications or to the ones you have selected to be anonymized. Using ChrisPC Anonymous Connection you will get proxy from USA, proxy from UK, proxy from France, anonymous proxy server from Germany and other 40 countries from around the world.
